Where to Stay in Woodstock, Virginia | Our Shenandoah Valley Home

Uncategorized

Fun Fact – we own and operate an Airbnb!

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Woodstock, Virginia, we’re a little biased, but we think this small Shenandoah Valley town is pretty special.

Woodstock is home for us. We grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and no matter where the military takes our family, this will always be home. We love the mountains, farmland, small towns and slower pace of life here, and we have such a heart for sharing it with other people.

That’s a huge part of why we decided to open our Woodstock home to guests. This house is also our home when we are back visiting the area, aka we have it fully equipped for kiddos and dogs, because, well….that is the season of life that we personally are in!

Our Family-Friendly Vacation Rental in Woodstock, VA

Our Woodstock Rancher is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home just a few minutes from downtown Woodstock and I-81.

We have tried to make it a place where families can actually settle in and be comfortable. Not just somewhere to sleep, but somewhere that feels a little bit like home while you’re away.

The house has two king beds, a queen bed, two twin beds, a finished lower level and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We also have a screened-in porch and a large fenced backyard, which is one of our favorite features for families traveling with kids or dogs.

For families with little ones, we provide a travel crib and highchair. The fenced yard is also so nice when you just want to let the kids play or the dogs run around without having to load everyone back into the car.

We’re only a few minutes from I-81, so the house is an easy stop if you’re traveling through Virginia, but there’s more than enough nearby to make Woodstock your destination for a whole weekend or longer.

Spend an Afternoon in Downtown Woodstock

One of the things I love about Woodstock is that you can park downtown and spend a few hours just walking around. It has that cute, small-town feel without being overly touristy.

Grab breakfast, lunch or coffee at Woodstock Café, then walk around downtown and pop into some of the local shops.

Flour & Fork is another great spot for food, and Buttercup is worth adding to your walk around town. You can also stop into Bonfire Bookstore and browse for something new to read while you’re here.

And of course, make a stop at Katie’s Custard for something sweet.

You really don’t need a big itinerary for downtown Woodstock. Grab some coffee, eat something good, browse the shops and enjoy a slower afternoon in town.

Explore Seven Bends State Park

One of Woodstock’s best spots is Seven Bends State Park, right along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River.

You can hike, fish, kayak, have a picnic or just get outside for a few hours. It’s especially nice when you’re traveling with kids because you can have an adventure without committing to an entire day.

Pack some snacks, explore the park for a few hours and then head back to the Rancher to relax.

Visit Some of Our Local Wineries

There are also some really beautiful wineries close to Woodstock.

Muse Vineyards is nearby and is such a pretty place to spend an afternoon. Cave Ridge Vineyard and Kindred Pointe are also within an easy drive.

One of our favorite things about this part of Virginia is that you can spend an afternoon at a vineyard surrounded by the mountains and countryside, then be back home in Woodstock for the evening.

Caverns, Lake Laura & Bryce Resort

Woodstock is also a great home base if you want to explore more of the Shenandoah Valley.

There are several caverns within driving distance, which is always a fun option with kids or when the weather isn’t cooperating.

You can also head toward Bryce Resort and Lake Laura for a day in the mountains. Depending on the season, you can swim, ski, golf, mountain bike or just spend some time outside.

There really is something to do in every season here.

You Have to Try Italian Touch

We also have to mention Italian Touch, one of our favorite local gems.

They recently moved into a beautiful new building and the food is amazing. Even better, you can have it delivered straight to the Woodstock Rancher.

After a long travel day or a full day exploring with kids, being able to order a really good dinner and have it show up at the house is hard to beat.

A Great Option for Traveling Nurses & Longer Stays

Our location isn’t only great for weekend trips.

The house is close to the local hospital, making it a convenient option for traveling nurses, healthcare professionals and anyone needing an extended stay in Woodstock.

You have a full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, multiple bedrooms, driveway parking, a fenced yard and enough space to actually settle in for a while.

We’re always happy to talk about longer stays if you’re going to be in the area for work, a move or an extended visit with family.

A Little Piece of Home in the Shenandoah Valley

More than anything, we want this house to feel like home.

The Shenandoah Valley is incredibly special to us. Our roots are here, our family is here and so many of our favorite memories have been made here. Even though military life has taken our own little family all over the country, we always come back.

We love getting to share a little piece of that with the people who stay in our home.

Bring your kids. Bring your dogs. Spend the morning at Seven Bends, grab lunch downtown, drive through the mountains, visit a vineyard and then come home and let everyone run around the backyard.

We hope you slow down a little while you’re here, enjoy this beautiful part of Virginia and maybe understand why we love calling the Shenandoah Valley home.

We’d love to have you at the Woodstock Rancher.
